Treasure Island is a beautiful city located on the south west coast of Florida, just west of Tampa. It sits adjecent to Madeira Beach and St Pete Beach. If you decide to visit Treasure Island on your next trip into Tampa or Orlando the you must visit one of the coolest restaurants in the city.
I am speaking of the world famous Gators on the Pass, or as the locals say Gators! This restaurant sits on the Johns pass causeway and is a wonderful place to catch a game, an icy cocktail or maybe some live music. The restaurant slash bar sits right on the causeway and boasts the longest tiki bar deck in the world! Get out early and get a spot on the deck, its absolutely beautiful and tends to fill up early. The restaurant has two levels. Up top is casual family style and bar area complete with Gator pictures and an astro turf floor. This is after all a Florida Gator restaurant. The bottom level is more of a beach scene with wood plank floors, full bar, and live music section. Weekend and most week nights are usually filled with local bands strumming everything from reggae to rock music. During the summer months you can catch a live bikini contest out in the tent. This event usually features some of the areas top models and a live Dj spins the latest beats. The food and drinks are your standard fare. They offer drink specials on different nights of the week and the menu features seafood and american fare. If you happen to sit down for a bite, might I suggest the gator nuggets. I know it doesnt sound very good but if you like catfish then you will like gator!
Overall the restaurant is a cool place to hang out and catch some Florida sun and have a beer. The patrons are lively and the place is big enough not to feel overcrowed or cramped. If your in the area during college football season then this is the place to sit down with a cold one and wath the game.
